Looking at the blog statistics, I found that there are still many who are in search of GATE 2010 Syllabus. I have already put up the syllabus here but that was as per GATE 2009. When I had written that post the final syllabus of 2010 wasn’t out. Now the syllabus has been finalized and there are a few surprises in store for the GATE Aspirants.

So what are those surprises ?

1. General Aptitude (GA) Section has been implemented from this year i.e. 2010. The GA section will be of 15 marks. This section will be in all the GATE papers. A little bit tinge of CAT ? What say ?

2. This time it has been clearly mentioned that the mathematics portion will be comprising of 15 marks. Every time the maths part is of about 15 marks but it is not mentioned in the brochure. So at least students know what to do and what not !!

Other syllabus remains the same as it is. Still do me a favor. Once you get the syllabus do read it thoroughly at least once. If there are any changes you will come to know at once. Moreover, you will also get a brief idea of what topics you have to learn from a scratch and what all you know.

Most of you must have filled up the application forms for GATE 2010. If you are one of those then there’s no need to strain your eyes and read further…

This is a breaking news for those who are still sleeping.. for those who haven’t filled up the application forms or have almost filled up but are not sure when they will post and when will the application reach the GATE office !!

Anyway, the dates for the issue of forms as well as submission of forms have been extended. Yes, you read it right, the dates have been extended almost by a week.

Here are the final dates.

LAST DATE for issue of Information Brochure and Offline Application Form at bank counters and GATE office counters at IITs/IISc has been EXTENDED till November 7, 2009.

LAST DATE for submission of Online Application Form has also been EXTENDED till November 7, 2009 18:00 hrs

LAST DATE for the Receipt of completed Offline Application Form at respective zonal GATE Office is November 10, 2009.

For incomplete Online submission process, necessary documents along with the covering note printed from the online site should reach IIT Kanpur GATE office by November 10, 2009.

Once you know the Organizing Institute, you can refer the previous papers set by this institute and plan you preparation accordingly. But this time, that’s not the case. Hello to all the GATE Aspirants !

So finally there’s some info about GATE 2010.. Its not totally official till now, but the information has been published by gate forum.. The official declaration is expected soon, around 2nd week of September i.e. just a few days from now.. !!

Till then just have a look…

1. GATE 2010 will be conducted by IIT Guwahati

2. The validity of GATE score will be 2 years. It hasn’t been clarified whether the score of GATE 2009 will also be valid for next year or not. I hope they do so…

3. The pattern of the GATE paper is again set to change… Hope they don’t make it more difficult.. !!

4. 3rd year students will be allowed to appear for the exam.

5. Pharmacy is still not included in GATE 2010.

6. Some papers might be conducted online.

7. GATE 2010 forms will be available from 22nd September… So latest by 22nd everything will be clear..

8. Finally, GATE 2010 will be conducted on 14th February 2010… Still not confirmed but the exam is always conducted on the 2nd Sunday of February.

So finally the shortlist for M. Tech and PhD. for Computer Science is out today, 3 days late than the decided date.

Till date I haven’t put up any shortlist for any course on my site… But this is really special. The thing is that in the morning when I checked the list, it had the names along with the application nos. and also the percentile. Don’t get surprised. It really had the percentile. But then when I checked again in the evening the layout of the list had changed and the percentile column had been removed. I don’t know what was the reason behind it… Also another addition to the new list was that the date and time for the interview was also included which wasn’t there in the morning.

Anyway I had saved the lists with the percentiles and here are the links if anyone wants to have a look.
