Finally the much awaited Microsoft Office 2010 Beta is available for public download.

Along with the Office suite, Microsoft Visio 2010 Beta, Microsoft Office Web Apps Beta and Microsoft Office Project 2010 Beta are also available for download.

For downloading any of the above Microsoft products you will need a Windows Live ID. If you don’t have one, just sign up for it at Windows Live Sign Up. Without that you won’t be able to download the products.

Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available for download.

Most of the computer users have had a time when they wanted to shut down their computer automatically without the manual intervention of pressing ALT + F4 and ‘Turn Off’.. or the classic way of clicking on ‘Start’, selecting ‘Turn Off Computer’ and finally clicking on the ‘Turn Off’ button… Now just forget that… Here’s AMP WinOFF for you.

This is the best windows shutdown utility I have ever come across. The latest updated version  is simply awesome.

Here are some of the key points on ‘Why to use this and only this ?’

1. You can shutdown/restart/hibernate/lock your computer at any designated time.

2. It gives you an option to shutdown as per your CPU stats, i.e. if you want to shutdown when your CPU usage goes below say 5%, then you can do it. (It has a option to disable the screensaver while calculating the CPU load.)

3. If you want that the system should shut down everyday at a particular time, you have got an option.. Just go to the General Options and enable the ‘Auto – reactive the last programmed shut down’.

4. Wanted to know which program was running when you shut down or what was its status ? Fine. You have got what you wanted. It allows to capture screenshot whenever the system is shutting down and that too in JPG or BMP format.

5. AMP WinOFF allows you to execute a program just before shutting down.

6. Did you want that it should ask you for confirmation before shutting down. OK. Select ‘Ask for confirmation’ in the ‘General Options’ tab.

7. You can set an administrative password so that unauthorized persons using your computer cannot change your shutdown time.

8. Moreover, as a security feature it has a provision to either ‘Restart the program if it’s aborted’ or ‘Shut down the system as soon as the program is aborted.’

9. You can also shut down remote computers using this.

10. Finally, if required you can hide the taskbar icon for this program.

PS: The help is also awesome. Everything has been explained in a very descriptive way.

Ever pulled your hair managing multiple IP addresses ? Ever wished that managing multiple IPs was easier ? If not then you are a lucky guy, please don’t read further… Maybe when after reading this you may change your mind and try NetSetMan. But for those who have really pulled their hair, NetSetMan is the perfect solution.

As per the Website, it is a network settings manager. Its much easier to use than the default TCP/IP properties. The utility is available in 2 versions, one is a non-commercial freeware while the other is a Commercial Pro Version. The basic difference between the two versions is that in the free version you can manage only 6 different network profiles. I know, I know, 6 is not a small figure when you are talking about network profiles. If you are a normal user then the free version is more than enough !!

Recently while surfing, I came across a real nice small utility which lets you customize the appearance of your windows clock. As per my knowledge, Windows doesn’t let you display seconds in the clock or the current day easily… If you are a real geek then you may have changed the registry and customized the clock as per your need…. But why break your head when you can get it done easily…. !!!

The utility’s name is TClock… It has a bunch of functionalities ranging from customizing your clock display to hiding your Start button !! Its an easy to use utility… You won’t need to refer to the help even if you are a novice.

• Change the font, font color, font size, background color of the dull windows clock.
• Change the position of the clock.
• Customize the format of the clock as per your wish.

Hello to all the Yahoo! Messenger addicts,

Finally its a great news for all the Y! freaks… Moving out of the ‘Betas’ Y! launched the final stable version of Yahoo Messenger, version 9. The look and feel has been totally changed and it looks too good now. Also many other features have been added to it, main being the addition of Y! Pingbox. Now all those Y! survivors who felt ’something missing’ in their web site or blog will now be able to make it a complete package. I think you got it right. You will not miss your chatting even on your web site. Visitors will be able to chat with you using the Pingbox.

Adding the Pingbox to your web site or blog is a pretty simple process. But to make it even more simpler, I am adding a step by step guide on ‘How to add the Pingbox to your Blog or Web site ?’

So here are the 10 easy steps:

1. To add the Y! Pingbox go here: Create your Yahoo Pingbox
2. Once you are there and if you are not signed in, just go to the ‘Sign In’ at the top right corner of the page and sign in with your Yahoo username and password. (Note: Hope no one is a new Yahoo user here… If so, instead of the ‘Sign In’ link go to the ‘Sign Up’ link and create your Yahoo account in minutes and continue with the steps)
3. Once you are signed in you will be redirected again to the same page where we started with.
4. Locate the bright yellow button with ‘Create Pingbox’ written on it. I don’t think you would have much problem locating that.   Now what are you waiting for ? Click it…
5. Now the customization of your Pingbox will start. On the left are a variety of things for you to choose for your Pingbox and on the right you will be able to see the way it looks.
6. When you are content with the design of your chatbox, just get hold of your mouse and click on the purple ‘Next’ button on the left hand side of the page.
7. Select the size for the Pingbox, some may love it B-I-G while others may like it small. So as per your taste choose the size and if you want it to add it to any services given above the size selection just click on the respective button.
8. If you want it to add to some other place not listed there, don’t worry. There’s a way out. Choose ‘Code Only’ and press the ‘Copy to Clipboard’ button. You will get a nice message saying ‘Code copied to clipboard.’
9. Now there’s nothing more.. Just go to the page of your web site or blog  where you want to add the Pingbox and paste the copied code. As you can see it, I have added my Pingbox to the sidebar of my blog. To do so, open the admin panel of your WordPress blog and go to the Design tab. In that select theme editor and finally select ‘Sidebar.php.’ Add the code after the <!–sidebar.php start–><div id=”sidebar”> tags wherever you wish to show your Pingbox. To display the Pingbox in the center horizontally, do like this:

           <div id=”sidebar”>

   Paste your code here
   </center>…………..

   </div>

10. Voila, that’s it. You are done. Now you can even chat with your web site visitors.

1. Region Selection – you can select the region to capture i.e. it may be Full screen or a predefined fixed region or a custom region that you can define at the time of recording.
2. Options - An extensive list of options is available for configuring CamStudio as per your needs. You can change the video settings to match your needs or you can decide whether you want to capture the audio or not. If you decide to capture the audio it allows you to select whether you want to capture it from headphones or microphone. Also it provides you with the Autopan option i.e. the video follows your mouse.
3. Tools - The tools consist of the video and screen annotations.

Lets talk about some advantages.

1. Very user friendly and self explanatory.
2. The video and audio quality is awesome. I tried it at 70% video quality and you just cannot separate out the live screen and the video.

Disadvantage as according to me.

1. The video size is too large even at 70% percent video quality. For a 30 min video the size is 550 Mb
2. The video plays only in the media player that comes along with the software, it doesn’t play in the normal players installed on your PC.
