In Lal Bahadur Shastri’s life, Tuesday proved to be an eventful day. Most of the important things of his life happened on this day.

He was Born on a Tuesday.
Once while bathing in the Ganges, he slipped from his mother’s lap and unfortunately his absence was not noticed. Luckily he fell in a farmer’s basket and was rescued. The day was Tuesday.
In 1940, he was arrested on a Tuesday.
On Tuesday, he was made the Minister of the UP assembly.
In 1947 again on a Tuesday he was made the communication minister.
On Tuesday in 1951, he was made the President of Congress.
He was made the Railway Minister on Tuesday.
He became India’s Prime Minister on Tuesday.
On Tuesday he received “Bharat Ratna” from Dr. Radha Krishnan.
He signed the Tashkent agreement on a Tuesday.
Finally, he breathed his last on a Tuesday.

At first sight u feel like a spam message, and these days spammers are so intelligent that they choose the sender’s name almost similar to someone on ur list.. I just don’t know how they do it !! /:) And I always delete those messages or mails at that very instant without being much bothered about the content.

But maybe that I am lucky or the link was lucky that I just didn’t follow the usual trail and went with my instincts and voila !! that was a great surprise for me, the site with such a long name exists on the web… And that too with some great content.. Something different..

Working hard even when you’re exhausted may be an admirable characteristic, but it is a virtue that could be harmful to your health, according to a new study.

The study, conducted by psychologists at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), supports a theory which suggests that fatigued individuals’ cardiovascular systems are forced to work harder when they attempt to complete tasks, such as those encountered on the job or at school.

The study showed that fatigued individuals had larger blood pressure increases than rested individuals under conditions where they viewed success as both possible and worthwhile.

UAB psychologist Rex Wright, Ph.D., who led the study, believes the effects were determined by effort on the part of the study participants.

He said that when fatigued individuals perceive a task as achievable and worth doing, they increase their effort to make up for their diminished capability due to fatigue.

As a result, blood pressure tends to rise and remain elevated until the task is completed or individuals stop trying because they think success is impossible or too difficult to be justified.

“Our findings are relevant to health because of links that have been established between cardiovascular responsiveness and negative health outcomes, including hypertension and heart disease,” Wright said.

“Individuals who experience chronically exaggerated cardiovascular responses are believed to be at greater health risk than individuals who do not. Thus, the implication is that chronic fatigue may pose a health risk under some performance conditions,” he added.

During the study, researchers offered 80 subjects the opportunity to earn a small chance of winning a modest prize by memorizing, in two minutes, two or six nonsense trigrams. Trigrams are meaningless, three-letter sequences, such as AED.

Before the memorization period, the partcipants completed a survey that included questions about how fatigued they felt. During the memorization period, the researchers monitored the subjects’ heart rate and blood pressure responses.

The data indicated that subjects who reported moderate fatigue had stronger blood pressure increases than subjects who reported low fatigue in the two-trigram condition.

“Presumably this was because the moderately fatigued subjects viewed success as relatively hard, but still possible and worthwhile,” Wright said.

“Subjects who reported moderate fatigue had relatively reduced blood pressure increases in the six-trigram condition, presumably because they viewed success there as impossible or too difficult to be worth the effort.”

Subjects who reported very high fatigue had low blood pressure increases in both task conditions. This was interpreted to suggest that even the easy task was too difficult for them.

“It might be argued that fatigue is of little concern from a health standpoint because people will tend to withdraw effort once they become fatigued,” Wright said.

“The problem with this view is that it fails to recognize that people do not always have the luxury of withdrawing effort or perhaps the wisdom to do so.

The study is published in the July issue of the International Journal of Psycho physiology.

The Second Post..

Hello everyone,

This is the second post on this new blog of mine… The Old Blog is still alive but gradually, once I have set up this blog properly, I am going to say ‘Good Bye’ to it..

Now why did I start a new blog..?? The old one was quite good (I think so.. ). The main reason was the inability to add new things to my blog. That blog was hosted on Wordpress and they do not allow any major changes except a few here and there like change of themes and addition of some widgets… But but, this limitation is just for the blogs hosted on their site. A good news for me… Being a software engineer, I can’t sit without making some changes as per my needs… So I decided to move my blog to some another domain, obviously a free one !!

The process of selecting a new domain is somewhat tedious (bcoz I needed a free one).. I have tried and tested quite a few and also ‘Googled’ for it to a great extent… Each one had its pros and cons, but finally I had to make my chioce and the lucky one, who was going to host my blog was Freehostia.

On the 22nd of June 2008, this blog of mine spoke its first words “Hello World !!”

Like for a new born, I had to dress up my blog before I show it to the world.. So the challenge of finding a new and attractive dress (theme) for it began… The search took a little long than expected and if by chance u had visited this blog of mine yesterday or earlier u might have come across one or the other theme each new day.. But none of them could give it a solid effect like this one. The theme I am using now is the “Forever Autumn 10″ Wordpress theme designed by Joni Ang.

After the change of theme comes the addition of the add-ons or plugins and widgets. I have added a few and am still in search of some new and nice ones. Watch out for the list of some essential great plugins in my posts to come.

Its too late now and I think its enough for my mind and body…
