Custom Coming Soon Page Plugin 1.0.9 [‘Too many redirects’ Bug Fix]

Recently, while working on another blog, I needed to show a Coming Soon page till I finish up the background work.

The Custom Coming Soon Page Plugin is the most awesome option that I have got till date. I am using the free version, but if you are ready to shell out some cash, you can get a Pro version also.

The plugin worked perfectly just a few days ago, but yesterday, once after deactivating the plugin, it never got activated again !! As soon as I tried to activate the plugin, it went into an infinite loop and after a few seconds, crashed showing the message ‘The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete’. After that there was no way in which I could even login to the wp-admin page of the blog. The same error message flashed on the screen every time I tried access the site.

btw, if you are in this stage, just do one thing, go to the file manager and in the wp-content >> plugins folder, just delete the Custom Coming Soon Page Plugin and then try to browse your site again. Hopefully you should be good to go.

Now the only thing is that though you have recovered your site back, you won’t be able to use the plugin

But worry not, I have found out the bug and also the bug fix !! So in just a few or to be specific just 3 code changes, the plugin will be back to work.

Follow these steps and you will be good to go:

1. Install this plugin on your wordpress blog and DO NOT click the ‘Activate’ button.

2. Click on ‘Edit’ instead.

3. Search for these lines in the code

if(get_option(‘sp_settings_check’) == ’0′)

4. Once you get this, comment out the code shown above and the 2 lines of code following that. After commenting your code should look like this,

//if(get_option(‘sp_settings_check’) == ’0′) {

// header(‘location:’.get_bloginfo(‘wpurl’).’/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=coming-soon-settings’); // Change URL as per page

//}5. Now click on the ‘Update’ button.

6. Go to the Plugins page and activate this plugin.

7. Voila, its done.. :)

8. The options for this plugin are under ‘CJ Coming Soon’ page under the Settings tab in the panel on left !!

I have tested this and its working for me…

Hope this helps.

Njoy !!
